Removing or Renaming Countries for the Country Selector Field Picklist

Countries options, automatic detection, and how to customize the country list for your specific requirements.

Updated over 9 months ago

The Formulayt country selector field provides users with a searchable list of

countries while offering several intelligent features to enhance form completion.

Country selector key features

The country selector automatically:

  • Detects the user's location using GeoIP and pre-fills the field to save time

  • Can be pre-populated from your Marketing Automation Platform (MAP) or previous submissions (this overrides GeoIP detection)

  • Updates phone field formats to match the selected country's dialing code

  • Works with form rules to create location-based dynamic form behaviors for complex opt-in logic

What countries are included in the country selector field?

The country selector includes a standard set of countries, dialing codes, and translations. View or download the complete list in this CSV file:

Customization options

Need to customize the country list? You have several options to modify the country selector in your Formulayt account.

How to access country selector settings

  1. Go to Setup > Settings > Forms

  2. Locate the country selector area

Removing countries

To remove specific countries from the selector:

  • Enter the two-character country codes in UPPERCASE

  • Add ONE code per line

Example:

US
FR

This would remove United States and France from your country selector.

Renaming countries

To rename how countries appear to users:

  • Use the format: CODE|LANGUAGE|Label

  • Both code and language must be UPPERCASE

  • Add one entry per line

Example:

DE|DE|Frankreich
DE|FR|Allemagne

This would rename Germany to "Frankreich" for German language users and "Allemagne" for French language users.

Changing submission values

By default, the country selector submits the two-character ISO code as its value. To change this:

  • Set the "Submit labels instead of values" switch to active

  • This will make the country selector use the country label (full name) as its submission value instead of the ISO code

These customizations help ensure your country selector aligns with your receiving platform's requirements.
