One Time Passcodes (OTP) and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Securing your account with One Time Passcodes and optional Two-Factor Authentication.

Updated over 8 months ago

The Formulayt platform utilizes multiple security measures to protect your account, including One Time Passcodes (OTP), Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and Single Sign-On (SSO).

One Time Passcodes (OTP)

All users will periodically be asked to provide an OTP at login, which they will receive via email.

โ€‹Security Alert: If you receive an OTP email when you were not trying to log into Formulayt, reset your password immediately and consider activating 2FA.

Important Note: You may occasionally receive an OTP email that's not directly in response to a login attempt. This happens because:

  • Security cookies expire after 30 days

  • If you've left a window with Formulayt logged in and the cookie expires

  • A new cookie will be generated on the next page load

  • An OTP email will be sent automatically

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds an additional layer of security to the authentication process. This makes it harder for attackers to gain access to accounts because, even if a password is compromised, it alone is not enough to pass the authentication check.

Setting up 2FA

When a new user account is created:

  • The user will be given the option to activate two-factor authentication

  • This requires the Google Authenticator App

Enforcing 2FA organization-wide

Administrators can require all users to use 2FA when logging in by:

  1. Contacting your Formulayt Account Manager and request 2FA activation

  2. Ensuring all users have the Google Authenticator App installed
